Food Supply Division
The Highest Achievement Award
Established, as one of ASTRA’s initial large-scale business, the Food Supply Division has been the largest single food supplier to the Saudi Armed Forces. In 1967 ASTRA’s founder began supplying the Saudi Armed Forces stationed in Jordan. In 1976 the division won a major contract with the Ministry of Defense and Aviation to provide food and clothing to forces based in Tabuk.
Based on ASTRA’s high performance, supply contracts were extended to additional military areas through the years in Hafer el Baten, Taif, Dammam, Ar’ar, Al Hawiah and Rafha.
ASTRA met the ultimate test of its capabilities with flying colors when it was in charge of supplying all joint forces participating in the liberation of Kuwait. This entailed provisioning as many as 1.1 million soldiers with fresh and cooked food on a 24 hour basis across the Kingdom and at battlefield locations. In recognition of this “virtuoso” orchestrated performance, ASTRA received the highest achievement award from H.M. King Fahad Bin Abdul Aziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in 1991.
The Branch has been the largest single food supplier to the Saudi Armed Forces.
